Vampires are everywhere. But what really makes a vampire? What are their traits, what are their general characteristics?

Vampires are everywhere. Movies, Books, and TV Shows. But what really makes a vampire? What are their traits, what are their general characteristics? What makes a good vampire, and what makes a bad vampire? Here we will explore just that. Below I have compiled a list of what a vampire is and what key things all vampires have. Some Vampires don't share all characteristics, one example is Edward Cullen, he seems to shine in the sunlight instead of die. This is an interesting change, but kinda diminishes what a vampire really is.

This list is by far inconclusive, but for the most part, these are a vampires traits/characteristics. In modern day books and movies, and shows, there are many variations, and quite a few changes. The differences between the older Dracula movies and the newer movies/shows such as Twilight and Vampire Diaries are like night and day. But I suppose as we evolve so will these characters. Who knows how far this crazy will go, but from the looks of it Vampires are here to stay.

A Vampire can be characterized by these things (generally):

Vampires are dead humans
Vampires drink blood to "live"
Vampires have pointy teeth
Vampires generally are pale due to not being able to be exposed to sunlight
Vampire will die in sunlight (except Edward Cullen and those Vampires)
Vampires can be killed by a stake through the heart
Vampires don't have a soul
Vampire can fly or move really fast
Vampires live in clans
Vampires have heightened senses (hearing, seeing, smell)
Vampires are for the most part considered Evil (minus the Cullens, and Angel from Buffy)
Vampires turn into bats (this is def. not true for modern day vampires)
Vampires don't need to sleep
Vampires generally don't get along well with other Vampire clans
Vampires likes to kill and eat humans
Vampires are very selective about which humans they turn into vampires
