Vampire Movies - Which Are the Best?

Which are the best vampire movies to watch? Take a brief look at vampire movies and tv shows today , as well as some of the older vampire films that are still amazing to watch.

Flip on any tv or go to any bookstore and you will see that vampire movies are in. In fact you have a huge variety to choose from. So where do you start?

Obviously the Twilight series is extremely popular. It is in fact the most popular teen vampire series that is being bought right now. The movies are based on the four books in this series and the premise is sure to get young hearts pumping. True love, danger, vampires, werewolves, feuds and more. And the movie's heart throb Robert Pattinson has young girls all over the world screaming for more.

For a more adult look at the vampire fascination, look to the tv series True Blood. Again there is drama, this time it is vampires vs a religious cult. Sookie, the main character is human but she has the ability to read minds. The blood suckers in this series are from the south and come from all levels of society. No they are not all filthy rich and perfect. Oh and they have to contend with humans who try to drain them dry for the drug like effect that their blood has on them. This is a lot darker and has the adult situations that you don't really find with Twilight.

And then if you want more teenage vamp drama you can start to watch the new series on tv called The Vampire Diaries. Yes, Hollywood and mainstream tv are tapping this niche in new and creative ways.

Of course you could go to the old standbys which still thrill like Bram Stoker's Dracula, or Anne Rice's Interview with a Vampire and Queen of the Damned. Any true fan of this type of horror movie must see those two, at the very least.

But if you like the real blood and gore of these type of flicks that can truly be categorized as horror movies then go for movies like From Dusk til Dawn, Blade or Underworld. From Dusk til Dawn is one of the bloodiest that you will find, for you true gore fans.

And if you like campy horror flick humor, be sure to rent Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Love at First Bite, the Monster Squad or anything by Bela Lugosi. All are bound to keep you laughing. Belas Lugosi's films are funny because you see the changes in what was considered scary back then and what cinematographers and make up artists have achieved today.

It is really interesting to see the difference in the quality of the acting and special effects. So get some of the oldies but goodies first and then move on to some of the newer vampire movies. There are so many to choose from. If you do a quick Google search you will literally find hundreds of these type of films to watch. Sometimes the vampires win and sometimes the ones that hunt them are the good guys. Either way, I tend to root for the vamps. It is just more fun.
