Various creatures such as werewolves, vampires and ghosts that go "bump" in the night at one time made people really uneasy as darkness spread with the oncoming of nightfall. That was back in the old days, but now however, it's totally different!
Nope, that's no joke. Are you a bit confused? Well, let me ask you one thing - when was the last time you visited your local bookstore - online or off? And no, I'm not saying there are vampires lurking around there. But on the shelves there are, in a sense anyhow. Browse for yourself and you'll see what I mean.
I did it - browsed those shelves and it would appear that what's popular right now are supernaturals and creatures of the night. And the books to which I am referring - well now, Charlaine Harris' books of course, who else?
After I had been introduced to the incredible world of Charlaine Harris novels, I took it upon myself to do some more research and I found that she has a large number of books published - and I gotta have them as I am real fast becoming a big fan!
I get told I'm geeky often and I guess that's for sure - I am. I just love these sort of novels, and I can't believe it's taken me so long to find them.
And just like I do with other authors that I take a real liking to, I did a bit of a read-up on Charlaine Harris. She first had a book published way back in 1980, which was called Sweet and Deadly, then another in 1983 called A Secret Rage. In 1990 she had her first series published - the rather well known Aurora Teagarden Mysteries. And amongst the female heroines of note in her books are Harper Connelly, Lily Bard and the now well-documented Sookie Stackhouse of True Blood fame.
Ms Harris can put much of her claim to fame down to her Southern Vampire Mysteries, which are more popularly termed The Sookie Stackhouse Novels, named after the female protagonist of the series.
I thought at first that it would be the typical vampire meeting human sort of thing where they would fall in love and be happy for ever more together - vampire would bite his partner and they would then certainly live for ever more. But no. Not this time.
The novels written by Charlaine Harris are a true mix of romance, the supernatural, mystery, suspense, action and humor. Keeps me on edge as I turn the pages and I'm sure it will you.
So with all this in mind I can only but recommend the works of Charlaine Harris, and I for one am waiting impatiently for her next novel to be published later this year!
