Lately, ever since this whole Twilight craze, people have become obsessed with vampires. I will be the first to admit, that I have become one of them.
Vampires are everywhere. They come in the form of books, movies, TV shows and even music. The latest popular vampire show to emerge is The Vampire Diaries on the CW. It is based on the book series by L.J. Smith. The book series is quite good; however, the show does not really follow all that closely to the book. The story follows Elena, a girl who recently lost her parents in a car accident. She meets a mysterious boy at school named Stefan, who she eventually starts dating. Murders start occurring in town and they believe it is animal attacks. Elena find out Stefan is a vampire and people begin suspecting him. The attacks were done by Stefan's estranged brother, Damon. Damon and Stefan are at odds because they were in love the same girl, who happened to look like Elena.
True Blood is another recent vampire series on HBO based on the book series by Charlaine Harris. It follows Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waitress in the small town of Bon Temps. She meets a vampire named Bill, who she falls in love with and becomes entangled in this world of supernatural creatures. The show just finished its second season. It is intended for a more adult audience as it contains nudity and language.
Vampire stories are not for everyone and lots of people have become annoyed of the whole craze. However, both of these shows are really great and should definitely be watched.
